Evaluation scales in rehabilitation
site navigationWelcome to rehab-scales.org
This site presents a set of evaluation scales specifically designed to be used in rehabilitation.
Each scale defined below was developed in Unité de réadaptation et de médecine physique, Université catholique de Louvain, using the Rasch measurement model. This model provides a method to convert the raw scores obtained from a questionnaire into a linear measure located on a unidimensional scale.
The place of these scales in the health process can be determined using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO, 2001).
Our evaluation scales
ABILHAND
ABILHAND is a measure of manual ability for adults with upper limb impairments. The scale measures a person's ability to manage daily activities that require the use of the upper limbs, whatever the strategies involved.
ABILHAND has been validated in chronic stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic slerosis, neuromuscular disorders and hand surgery adult patients.
ABILHAND-Kids
ABILHAND-Kids is a measure of manual ability for children with upper limb impairments. The scale measures a person's ability to manage daily activities that require the use of the upper limbs, whatever the strategies involved.
ABILHAND-Kids has been validated in cerebral palsy children (age 6-15).
ACTIVLIM
ACTIVLIM is a measure of activity limitations for patients with upper and/or lower limb impairments. The scale measures a patient's ability to perform daily activities requiring the use of the upper and/or the lower limbs, whatever the strategies involved.
ACTIVLIM has been validated in children (age 6-15) and in adults (age 16-80) with neuromuscular disorder.
ABILOCO
ABILOCO is a measure of locomotion ability for adults with lower limb impairments.
ABILOCO has been validated in adult stroke patients.
ABILOCO-Kids
ABILOCO-Kids is a measure of locomotion ability for children with lower limb impairments.
The scale has been calibrated in children with cerebral palsy (age 6-15).
Situational Pain Scale (SPS)
The Situational Pain Scale is a measure of pain representation for healthy adults and chronic pain patients. The scale measures a person's representation of imaginary painful situations.
Participation Measurement Scale (PM-Scale)
The Participation Measurement Scale (PM-Scale) was developed as a measure of participation as perceived by African stroke patients.
It explores the most representative inventory of life situations in African communities.
